Glasgow-based composer/performer Reese Carly Manglicmot has been commissioned by ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra (BBC Proms Nottingham), Red Note Ensemble (soundfestival Aberdeen) and Nordic Viola (University of Stirling). She was a senior winner of the BBC Young Composer Competition 2023, and qualified twice for the National Centre for Early Music Young Composers Award (in 2023, workshopped by the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble; and in 2024: workshopped by Ex Corde Vocal Ensemble). Her works utilise palettes filled with sonic violence and sonic intimacy, expressing concepts such as the intersection between man and the divine, as well as human decision-making and impact through a Christian lens
An active (collaborative) pianist and harpsichordist, she has performed and premiered her own works in Lithuania, Romania and across the UK. Her wide-ranging performance experience and artistic interests has led her to not only curate, but also produce and present events ranging from intimate fundraising concerts in the community to full, cross-disciplinary stage productions.
She studies under an RCS Trust Scholarship at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she is a Joint Principal Study pianist and composer with Fali Pavri and Stuart MacRae respectively.
As Assistant Director of the Society for Creative Progress, Reese is passionate about fostering collaboration and dialogue. She aims to facilitate connections not only between individuals, but also between concepts, phenomena, and the wider world.
